Vail seeks input on playground
August 17, 2010
VAIL, Colorado – The town of Vail and Eagle County Schools are seeking public comment on a proposal to renovate the playground at Red Sandstone Elementary School.
The two organizations are applying for a grant from Great Outdoors Colorado, the lottery-funded mechanism for recreation grants, to complete the project.
New equipment and a more open site plan are included in the grant proposal to improve the playground’s safety, capacity and access. The play area would be relocated adjacent to the school and the current site would be graded and landscaped. The new playground would also improve access for neighborhood children, visiting families and Vail Recreation District programs to use the playground in non-school hours, and would comply with current safety guidelines and American with Disabilities Act standards.
Community feedback will help in refining the scope of the project and will be included in the grant application. Comments should be e-mailed to email@example.com no later than Aug. 24. Include your name and the neighborhood you live in, whether you have children who would use the playground during non-school hours such as weekends or in the summer, any volunteer support you may be able to provide in helping to construct or maintain the playground, as well as any other comments or input.
