The park’s elements were constructed by Hazard County Construction of Georgia and include a half-pipe, pyramid, multiple ramps, transitions, rails and banks, plus a street course area for younger or less experienced riders to hone their skills. The skatepark will again be managed by the Vail Recreation District and will be open from dawn to dusk each day through mid-October. The rec district also will offer skateboard clinics throughout the summer, beginning June 15. Helmets will be required for all park users; bikes and scooters are not permitted. The town’s long-term plans include construction of a permanent skatepark at a location yet to be determined. For more information, contact Todd Oppenhemier, the town’s capital projects manager, at 970-479-2161.
