VAIL, Colorado ” The Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy allows students to train rigorously for skiing and snowboarding competition while keeping up with their schoolwork. This year, six students graduated from the academy that works with Ski and Snowboard Club Vail.

The graduates are Elizabeth Booth, Julia Keeler, Andre Lane, Valerie Reynolds, Alfredo Velasco and Taylor Wettlaufer.

Wettlaufer, of Vail, graduated cum laude from the academy and will pursue a business degree at the University of Denver. Lane, of Eagle, will pursue a degree in resort management at Colorado Mountain College while continuing to compete in freestyle skiing.

Velasco, from Guanajuato, Mexico, has earned a full-scholarship to Dartmouth, where he will be studying electrical engineering. Velasco started a robotics club at the ski academy and opened a Saturday lunch buffet for skiers.

Booth, of Golden, is headed to Colorado State University. Keeler, of Denver, will study medicine major at the University of Vermont. Reynolds, from Spokane, Wash., is going on to the University of Colorado.
