Vail: Snow in forecast for last week of ski season

VAIL ” The sun should be out in the Vail Valley Monday and Tuesday but the National Weather Service is forecasting rain and snow to return Tuesday night.

It’s been a snowy end to ski season on Vail and Beaver Creek mountains. Vail has reported 427 inches this season, with Beaver Creek “-which closed Sunday ” reporting 392.

Vail Mountain closes Sunday.

There’s a slight chance of rain and snow Tuesday. The National Weather Service’s forecast for Tuesday is a 50 percent chance of rain and snow before midnight and snow after midnight, with up to 2 inches of snow possible.

Rain and snow remain likely on Wednesday, Wednesday night and into Thursday, the National Weather Service says.
