Vail Soul Music Fest debuts in August
VAIL – The first-ever Vail Soul Music Fest takes place in Vail Aug. 20 to 22, with musicians Raphael Saadiq, Liv Warfield, Jonathan Bryant and others. The main stage of live performances will be at Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater and organizers expect about 3,000 people to attend. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, with special early-bird pricing available through June 1. Saadiq is a former member of multi-platinum R&B group Tony! Toni! Tone!, and has worked as producer for the likes of Mary J. Blige, D’Angelo, Earth, Wind & Fire, John Legend, Joss Stone and Macy Gray.Warfield has worked with Prince, B.B. King, The Roots, Dave Matthews Band and Al Green. She cites as inspirations Jill Scott, Nina Simone, Tina Turner, Sade and Mary J. Blige. Bryant has appeared recently with India Arie, Philip Bailey, Dianne Reeves, Pam Grier, Don Cheadle and as one of Kim Burrell’s background vocalists. He is working on his first full-length solo project, which should be released later this year.
