Vail: Spring construction begins Monday
VAIL, Colorado Work will continue Monday on the fountain being built at the top of bridge street. Jets, lights, a guard rail and other equipment will be installed on the Seibert Circle fountain. The fountain should be finished in May.Also on Monday, water line work will begin along Willow Road. That project will extend to Vail Road and require brief road closures. The Eagle River Water and Sanitation District also will be installing water and sewer lines on Beaver Dam Road through November. For information on these projects, contact John Cahill at 477-5447.Vail Resorts also will continue this spring to make public improvements to the Lionshead Mall around the Arrabelle at Vail Square. Streetscape work will be done in front of the Landmark retail shops, in front of Bart & Yetis restaurant and in the Garfinkels alley. Landscaping of the Eagle Bahn Gondola skier yard is also scheduled.Private projects already underway include Vails Front Door, located at the base of the Vista Bahn; Mountain View, formerly a part of Apollo Park; Four Seasons Resort Vail, located at the Main Vail roundabout; Manor Vail, near Golden Peak; Crossroads, now called Solaris; The Willows, located east of Checkpoint Charlie; and The Ritz-Carlton Residences, just east of the Vail Marriott.While pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the construction areas, the in-town bus route will be adjusted as needed. Loading and delivery access in Vail Village and Lionshead will vary; delivery drivers are asked to call Checkpoint Charlie at 476-7603 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. seven days a week for up-to-date loading and delivery information.Construction crews are permitted to work on public streets from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week between April 14 and June 27, though no work will be done during the TEVA Mountain Games, June 58. Weekly neighborhood meetings about the construction will continue throughout the spring. Projects in the Vail Village/Meadow Drive area are discussed at 9 a.m. Tuesdays in the Vail Transit conference room, located on the third level of the Vail Transportation Center. Lionshead construction meetings are held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesdays in the Arrabelle at Vail Square ballrooms.In addition, the town produces a weekly construction overview available via e-mail or fax.
