VAIL, Colorado “-The town of Vail, Colorado is doing a housing survey to help plan for future employee housing.

A survey will be sent out to about 4,000 Vail property owners over the next few days. the goal is to determine what sort of homes exist in Vail (studio, multiple bedroom, etc.) and how the home is used (owner-occupied, tenant-occupied, or other.)

The survey is being conducted by an independent research firm, and the results will be used to measure future employee housing progress. The town’s goal is to make sure there is deed-restricted housing for at least 30 percent of Vail’s workforce within the town boundaries.

The goal is to get as many responses as possible, so it’s important for residents to take part, said Mayor Dick Cleveland.

“This survey is a critical component of a larger planning effort to address identified priorities in the town’s employee housing strategic plan,” he said.

Respondents should return their surveys directly to the research firm in an enclosed postage-paid envelope. All responses will be kept confidential.
