Vail to burn dead trees near golf course

Daily Staff Report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado ” Crews from the Vail Fire Department will begin burning piles of tree branches in the Vail Golf Course neighborhood beginning as early as Monday and continuing for several days or weeks, weather permitting.

About 20 piles of downed lodgepole pine and aspen will be burned. The piles are located on town land near Ptarmigan Road and Fairway Drive.

During the burning, smoke and flames may be visible and some smoke may settle during the evening hours. People with respiratory problems are advised to stay indoors or avoid the area.

Additional burns will be taking place throughout the community over the next few months, where as many as 2,200 piles remain from large-scale cutting efforts completed earlier this year as part of the Vail Valley Forest Health Project.
