Vail town meeting includes giveaways, interactive displays

VAIL, Colorado –Vail’s Community meeting tonight from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Donovan Pavilion will include an energy expo where demonstrations, giveaways and energy-saving ideas for the home will be presented.

Those who come to the meeting are encouraged to bring their used light bulbs in exchange for free compact fluorescent bulbs courtesy of Holy Cross Energy. Participants also will be invited to test their skills at a recycling station, learn about energy conservation, solar energy and how infrared cameras work in an energy audit. Also, free water conservation items will be available from the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District while supplies last.

Architectural renderings of the new West Vail Fire Station and the new look for the Timber Ridge apartments will also be displayed as part of a townwide open house that will include participation by the Vail Public Library, Public Works, Police, Fire, Finance, Economic Development, Eagle County Wildfire Mitigation, U.S. Forest Service and the Vail Recreation District.

Remarks from Mayor Dick Cleveland begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by a community update from Chris Jarnot, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Vail Mountain. Time has also been set aside for community questions and comments.
