Vail Valley: Alpine Arts Center has Independence Day activities planned
Alpine Arts Center in Edwards has several art classes and events planned for the July 4th weekend in the Vail Valley.
On July 2, Alpine Arts Center will host an “Empty Bowls Bowl-A-Thon” to benefit the Eagle County Salvation Army Food Pantry.
“Our Bowl-A-Thon is the perfect opportunity for anyone from the complete beginner to the experienced potter” Alpine Arts Center Lauren Merrill said. “Participants can feel good about learning new potter’s wheel and handbuilding techniques, and at the same time know their efforts are directly benefiting our local community.”
The cost of the workshop is $15 per person, which includes clay, glazes, and instruction to create three bowls, one of which the participants can take home – the other two will be donated to the fundraiser.
Alpine Arts Center has organized family activities July 3 in celebration of Independence Day. Alpine Arts Center will have a booth at the Edwards Farmers Market where children can decorate 4th of July pinwheels that they can use during the holiday festivities. Children can also register for a “Freedom Note Paper” workshop at Alpine Arts Center July 3 from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The workshop will allow children to design their own pictures about what it means to be free, and copies of the notepaper will be sent to the troops overseas along with a pen so they can write back. Children will also take a package of their notepaper home as a souvenir.
