Daily Staff Report
Vail, CO, Colorado

The “Green Team” of Alpine Bank – which has several Vail Valley branches – was recently named one of two 2009 Colorado Sustainability Team Champions by the state of Colorado. The award recognizes the bank team’s efforts to achieve and maintain an ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management System.

Members of the Alpine Bank Green Team Leadership Committee were honored in Denver by the Colorado Environmental Partnership and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

“The Green Team has committed to continuously improving Alpine Bank’s environmental performance,” the certificate of achievement states. “Your achievements include educating the local community on sustainability, offsetting your carbon emissions, and attaining LEED ‘Silver’ certification for two Alpine Bank buildings.”

Alpine Banks have pledged to hit the following goals by 2012:

• A 20 percent reduction in energy use.

• A 20 percent reduction in paper use.

• A 10 percent reduction in water consumption.

• A 25 percent reduction in courier fleet fuel consumption.

All targets are measured against baseline year 2006.
