Vail Valley Art Guild hosts two-day workshop with Evergreen oil painter Don Sahli

Daily staff report

EDWARDS — The Vail Valley Art Guild is sponsoring a two-day workshop with internationally collected oil painter Don Sahli on Saturday, March 12, and Sunday, March 13. Sahli runs the Sahli School of Art in Evergreen, where he shares his love of the Russian impressionist style of painting with his students.

Sahli studied with and was apprentice to Russian artist Sergei Bongart for three years. He inspires his students to explore the relationships between color and temperature in painting and to develop bold and confident brush strokes in the spirit of the Russian painting lineage. Sahli has more than 35 years of experience as a painter and teacher and is represented in galleries across the U.S.

Sahli also will conduct an artist demo the evening of Friday, March 11, at Art of the Valley Gallery at Chapel Square in Avon from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The cost for the demo is $10, and RSVP is mandatory, due to limited seating. If you are interested in attending the demo, contact Joanne Carhart-Levy at or 970-471-0853.
