AVON — Artists from the Vail Valley Art Guild Photographers and the Vail Valley Art Guild, the photography group's parent organization, are showing their creative works in photography, painting, ceramics, fiber and other mediums at the Art of the Valley Gallery at Chapel Square in Avon.

The organization's next official exhibit will be the second annual "Side by Side, Architecture" show, which begins Friday, with an evening open house. On display are specific photographs and paintings of valley architecture done by randomly paired local photographers and artists.

"This will be a major exhibit, and a great deal of excitement, work and energy has been put into this 'Side by Side' show," wrote Raymond A. Bleesz in an email.

Bleesz and fellow photographer Rick Spitzer last year created the Vail Valley Art Guild Photographers group at the request of the Art Guild. A void existed in the valley for local photographers and artists to be able to work together, as well as to exhibit together.

The goal of the photography division, as Spitzer and Bleesz envisioned it a year ago, was to create a photo club that aims to share, learn about, exhibit and be exposed to photography at all levels, photography being a universal language.

"This goal has been established, and we are now surging ahead with greater sophistication (and) goals," Bleesz wrote. "It matters not at what level of photography you might be at, it's the goal to share and improve upon your passion."
