What goods or services do you provide? Consignment sales of outdoor gear including fishing, hunting, camping, climbing, backpacking, rafting, kayaking and bikes. I also have a small supply of consumable backpacking supplies and the best socks ever made by Darn Tough! I do also have new gear and clothing that was purchased on closeout or was rep samples. –
What’s new or exciting at your place? The inventory changes every day and great stuff does not last long. You can get a jump on the competition by checking the new arrivals section at http://www.alloutdoorconsignment.com. Right now I have one really nice mountain bike and a great carbon fiber road bike.
What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? I have lived in the Eagle Valley for 23 years and when you come here to get your gear, you also get the extra knowledge and experience I have gained pursuing many different outdoor activities over those 23 years. Plus, I can fish like a champ.
What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you? I am honest and I will exhaust my resources to try and get anything I can taken care of for anyone. I want the customer experience at All Outdoor Consignment to read like a retail store, with the expertise of a specialty store, and the price of a closeout store. –
Tell us a little about your background, education and experience:-I grew up in Pittsburgh and moved to Vail in 1989. I have been here ever since.-I have held just about every job possible including construction, restaurants and even a lift operator.-More recently, I owned and operated Gorsuch Outfitters, a fly fishing guide company and retail store from 1994 to 2006. I have spent the last few summers working with Paragon Guides guiding mountain trips and guiding fly fishing trips on the local waters with my new guide company, Trout Smith. –
What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened? The most humorous thing that has happened in the shop is when I hide things that are for free in the store and people actually cannot believe that they are free. The look on their face is priceless!
