What’s new or exciting at your place? We will be the Vail Valley’s newest craft brewery offering small batches of hand-crafted beer. We will be providing a wide selection of high quality beers to the local population. Each beer we produce will be paired with a charity and a portion of each beer’s proceeds will benefit that charity.
What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? We’re a local company that will provide fresh beer made by hand in very small batches. We expect to have our first commercial beers available in February.
What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you? Our philosophy is to make the world a happier place, one beer at a time. We will pride ourselves in providing the Vail Valley with high quality, fresh beer. We will give back to our community and our environment every opportunity that we have. Our consumers can expect a quality product and a socially and environmentally responsible company.
Tell us a little about your background, education and experience: Kevin grew up in Colorado and attended Colorado State University. He worked in the finance industry until he saw the light and got into the craft beer industry where he got his start at Anchor Brewing Co.
After graduating from college, Kevin was on a tour of the Heineken Brewery in Amsterdam where he had an epiphany that what he wanted to do in his life was start his own brewery. He figured the first step to doing so was to learn how to brew beer, so he moved to the West Coast where he learned to brew at home while he was working a job as a stock trader. Some of the beer he made found its way to a few employees of Anchor Brewing Company who thought it was pretty good. They told him he should stop by and interview for a position.
After being offered a job at Anchor, Kevin quit his finance job the next morning. He spent the next few years working at Anchor and a handful of other breweries. After four years of planning, his plans to open his own brewery finally came to fruition.
Kevin spent those four years developing the recipes and putting the building blocks of his company together. In 2009, during a less-than-great economic environment, he set out to find investors for Crazy Mountain Brewing Company. Despite an uphill battle, he was able to raise enough money to get the company started in Avon.
Marisa is from Northern California and has a background in marketing and advertising. Marisa is very enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge of marketing with Crazy Mountain and is excited to develop the brand.
