What goods or services do you provide? We provide professional tax and accounting services, including tax preparation and planning for businesses and individuals. We also provide audit and assurance services, bookkeeping and payroll services, estate planning, business valuation and consultation services in numerous industries, including real estate and development, ski and golf resorts, retail, restaurants, health care professionals and homeowners associations. We also have CPAs who have special designations for forensic accounting and business valuation.

What’s new or exciting at your place?

The new tax legislation kicked tax season into high gear much earlier this year so we have been refining our procedures and processes and taking classes to ensure we have the latest information for our clients. Also, since our firm files a substantial number of returns each year, the IRS now requires that we electronically file the majority of our individual and trust tax returns. This is great because it simplifies the process and will allow our clients to receive their tax refunds faster. This year, we are encouraging our clients to start their tax returns earlier and to also check out our daily blog on our website for news articles about new tax legislation along with tax planning tips.

What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition?

Our experience, resources and expertise set us apart. We have provided tax and accounting services in Western Colorado for more than 62 years. Since 1948, we have been through Western Colorado’s booms and busts working right along with our local communities, businesses and taxpayers on the accounting issues that matter the most to them. Our professionals are also niche-oriented for Colorado industries, many serving their clients for 20 to 30 years. Being in this profession for six decades has allowed us to streamline and perfect our procedures and processes. This is important for our clients because we understand tax law and we know how important it is to get the answers right the first time. Untangling an IRS problem can be stressful and expensive. The smartest thing to do is to hire a firm who will get it right the first time.

What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you?

Our firm’s core values of trust, respect, and responsibility towards our clients, colleagues and communities drives everything we do. That is what our clients expect, and it’s what they deserve. Our clients also tell us how important it is in this ever-changing economy to have trusted advisors on their team. We pride ourselves on providing world-class accounting services and personalized care.

What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened?

The most humorous thing that has happened at our office this year is when we realized the numerical significance of the year 2011! Did you know that we will experience four unusual dates this year? They are 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11 and 11/11/11.

And we have also learned that if you take the last two digits of the year you were born plus the age you will be this year, it equals 111!

Aren’t numbers great? And if you don’t think so, wouldn’t you like to have your taxes done by someone who does?

More than accountants. More than 60 years. Dalby, Wendland and Co., P.C.
