What goods or services do you provide? Halfpint Naturals is a Colorado-born company that produces chemical-, preservative- and paraben-free wellness products for pets, home and you! Our mission is to give people an alternative to the products they use that contain toxins and carcinogens. We source natural ingredients and pay meticulous attention to each detail as we create and produce the finest quality handcrafted wellness products.
What’s new or exciting at your place? With the help of friends, families and other locals in the community, we are constantly developing new products for everyday health concerns. People request special scents, arthritis relief and even a dry nose cream. One of the most popular products we recently created is an altitude sickness serum that increases circulation and eases symptoms. We call it Elevation Easer. While women instantly love our products, we are also making some pretty neat stuff for men too, including Sunshine’s Beard Conditioning Oil and Urban Jack’s Moustache Wax. Right now we are currently developing a new eye cream, cramp relief serum for women, men’s after-shave and even a “study” serum to go with our Get Sharp rooibos tea.
What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? We handcraft everything in small batches here in Edwards. All of our products are 100 percent natural, and we do not use chemicals, preservatives, or parabens. We are local and strive to craft products specifically made to help us make the best of the challenges that the Colorado climate throws at us.
What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you? We help create awareness about the toxins found in typical personal care products and craft solutions tailored to providing natural alternatives for health and home. Because we are local, every customer matters to us and we work to be a partner in personal care. For example, our Sneeze Wheeze allergy balm came about from a request for something to soothe itchy, watery eyes.
Tell us a little about your background, education and experience: I found a recipe for a lotion bar online about three years ago. It was so easy and cost-effective that we looked to see what other household items we could make ourselves. We studied essential oils and started sharing our creations with friends. As word spread throughout our circle of friends and family, we decided to jump in and create Halfpint Naturals.
What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened? Women love our products, but men can sometimes be a little unsure of things in the personal care category. At one of the events we were working we had a few ladies perusing our selection, when a younger gentleman came over and started trying to “pick up” one of our customers. Problem was, he didn’t realize he was looking at some of our women’s hormonal health products. After he struck out, we politely showed him a few products for men. He left with some moustache wax and more women laughing at him than he had probably had in quite some time!
In wake of deadly Vail Valley avalanche, tributes to Dillon Block and Cesar Almanza-Hernandez pour in
It has been a decade since Almanza-Hernandez graduated from Eagle Valley High School, and almost that long for Block. But inevitably, when a native son passes unexpectedly and tragically, folks tend to remember times spent together during their high school days.
