Business name: Pam Peterson Photography.Date opened: October.Owner: Pam Peterson.Contact info: Web: Phone: 970-471-4550.What goods or services do you provide? Photography for the whole family. Newborns, children of all ages, high school seniors and family portraits. I also have a baby plan called the Bebe Collection, which consists of three sessions during the first year of the childs life. It cumulates with a birthday cupcake with a big candle on it. Imagine a small child sitting on a floor with a birthday hat on, frosting all over their face and in between their fingers and a big, fat grin! I work entirely on location and rely on natural light within my clients own surroundings. What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? Its really important to let the client know they are No. 1. Customer service is my first priority. Being a mom of two boys, I understand the importance of documenting all the special moments of your childs life, and that our time is a precious commodity. Im very much a people person and am very interested in all of my clients. I love talking with them and learning about who they are. Im flattered when they welcome me into their homes as if I was an old friend. Being personable is key to success when working with children. What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you? My philosophy is simple be unique, be outstanding, and be yourself. Tell us a little about your background, education and experience: Im a self-taught photographer and mother of two boys. Ive been a ski instructor for Vail Resorts for 20 years. After the birth of my first son in 2004 we moved to Tahoe. It was there I really got most of my experience with photographing children. Along with photographing our boys every day, I became the unofficial club photographer for the mothers club I became involved with. I photographed a lot of infants and young children under the age of six years. Many of the mothers came to me to document those precious moments and stages of their childs lives, either on a beach, in their back yard, in an aspen grove or in their living room. Ive taken a few classes on business, techniques, and {hotoshop, but mostly a lot of chasing my two boys around and practicing as much as I can. What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened? I was photographing a two-week-old baby while his mom and dad where holding him. He was naked and to say the least not much could hold the stream of water that came out of him in a short amount of time. All we could do was laugh! Unfortunately I didnt get an image of it they almost dropped the baby and I ran for paper towels.
