What goods or services do you provide? We are the Rocky Mountain Star sales consultants for a company called Scentsy. A simple, wickless candle system, Scentsy warmers use a low-watt bulb to melt specially formulated wax slowly, maximizing the fragrance time of the Scentsy bar. With no flame, soot, smoke or lead to worry about, the Scentsy system is a safe way to enjoy more than 80 fragrances. Scentsy warmers come in more than 70 designs to fit any room and decor.

What’s new or exciting at your place? Every month Scentsy introduces a new Warmer and Scent of the Month. This February, everything in our Fall/Winter catalog is 10 percent off – a great excuse to buy a gift for that special someone, or yourself!

What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? Scentsy’s philosophy of simplicity, authenticity, and value is working – we’re one of the fastest growing and most successful companies the direct selling industry has seen.

Our business is personal – we reach our customers through home parties, local markets and on-line. We had great success at the three local holiday markets in Gypsum, Eagle and Minturn in December, and we are really excited about the summer market season.

Another thing that differentiates Scentsy from other companies is the enthusiasm for the products from the consultants and clients and the support for the consultants from the home office. The reinforcement from our director strengthens our resolve to building and training our team as it grows.

What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What separates us from the rest is our commitment to customer service – returning e-mails, phone calls and inquiries in a timely manner. We value and appreciate each and every one of our clients, and make a point to send out thank-you cards and small tokens of gratitude to keep Scentsy fresh in their minds.

What can your customers expect from you? Our customers can expect simplicity, authenticity and value from our products, and enthusiasm from us! We also believe in giving back to our community by organizing fundraisers for charities or groups. Scentsy is such a great vehicle to raise money, and we donate our commission to the cause.

Tell us a little about your background, education and experience: We both come from sales backgrounds and have other jobs besides this venture. Heather is an art consultant at Masters Gallery in Vail and Jennifer has a sports marketing business, Conquest Sales Group, that focuses on finding sponsorship money for sports events and properties called. Heather is a graduate of Regis College in Weston, Mass, and Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Southern California.

What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened? When we set up at the outdoor Minturn Holiday Market in December, it was a brutally cold day – so cold that the fragrant wax we had put in the featured Holly warmer wouldn’t melt! Lucky for us, our clients that day were very understanding as the temps dipped below zero with the wind!

We are amazed at the fun we’re having – selling Scentsy just doesn’t seem like work! Knowing that we’re providing affordable products that can brighten someone’s day in this tough economic climate – that’s awesome!
