What goods or services do you provide?

The Scarab offers over 1,000 beautiful hand-made area rugs from around the world. The Scarab provides the tools and talent to help you design and custom color your own hand-made rug. Delivery and shipping is available, and you are welcome to try the rugs in your home for approval. The Scarab provides professional rug cleaning and restoration. Your handmade area rugs can also be sold on consignment through our showroom.

What’s new or exciting at your place?

The most exciting news is that we have relocated back to downtown Minturn, where we started almost 20 years ago! The Scarab has recently expanded to carry artisan-made jewelry, scarves and accessories for you and your home. The Scarab looks for repurposed, “upcycled” and distinctive creations made by hand. In addition, The Scarab is offering silk scarves with very colorful designs from the renowned artist Rex Ray.

What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition?

We focus on one-of-a-kind artisan creations. The beauty of hand-made attracts visitors to return year after year when they visit our community.

What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers?

Listen, serve and share our love and knowledge of these beautiful creations. We have great reverence for the customers’ desires. In selecting colors and design in the world of art, it takes more than an ear to hear what the client is looking for.

What can your customers expect from you?

The designers and clients who have been coming to The Scarab for years find tenacious and unwavering dedication to find the best rugs for their homes. The Scarab has been referred to as an “Exceptional Service Company” by one of the top producing design firms in the United States.

Tell us a little about your background, education and experience.

Jane Rohr, founder and creative director, hails from Istanbul and has been working with hand-crafted textiles for over 30 years. Her time in Turkey includes a working apprenticeship at The Museum Of Underwater Archeology in Bodrum, Turkey. We have been in the rug business for over 20 years. Individually, we are all drawn to different aspects of the rugs and have spent time learning about what we love. As a team, we are here to offer our experience to our clients. We have placed rugs in homes all around the world and continue to learn something new every day!

What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened?

So many funny things happen at The Scarab on a regular basis … we love all the colorful characters we encounter in our business. The best way to hear about it is to stop by for a visit and a good laugh!-
