I provide massages for dogs! It’s great for older dogs with arthritis or hip dysplasia, beneficial for dogs recovering from any surgery or injury, valuable for sports dogs or any dog that has been neglected or abused in the past, or to just let them know you care! Most people think it’s only beneficial for older dogs, but it’s a positive experience for all. Massage relieves pain, removes toxins and waste, distributes natural oils which promotes a healthy skin and coat, makes the joints more flexible and much more. What’s new or exciting at your place? For the whole month of December, my rates will be $10 off! It’s a great holiday gift and a perfect way to say “thank you” to your four-legged friend! What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? I pride myself in putting the animal first and being fair. I deal with the owners of dogs, but the dog is my first priority client. My job is to make sure I have the animal’s permission before I begin and that they are comfortable. Along with that, I come to you! Some dogs are afraid of new places or going in the car, and I want your dog to be as secure, content and relaxed as possible. Therefore, being in a familiar setting like your home is best! What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you? Bottom line, I want all of my customers to be happy with the work I’ve done when I leave. I want to be someone they feel comfortable with, see their dog being comfortable with and someone they can trust. On my initial paperwork that I have clients fill out, I ask what their expectations are so that I can get a feel for what they want accomplished and make sure it’s obtainable before I begin. If I’m on the same page as my clients, I’m happy, they’re happy and the dog will be happy! Tell us a little about your background, education and experience: I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and moved to Vail in 2008! While spending some time with my mother in Wisconsin, I discovered canine massage and enrolled for classes right away! I studied small animal anatomy and small animal massage and received certification from Blue Sky School of Professional Massage & Therapeutic Bodywork in Grafton, Wis. I opened Vail Valley Pet Massage in August 2011. What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened? Jeb was a blood hound and repeat client who always greeted me at the door with a gift, his bear, “Roxy.” One particular morning, I arrived at Jeb’s house for a massage, but to my surprise I was greeted with a different gift … his master’s underwear!
