EAGLE COUNTY ” Lisa Ponder, The Gallegos Corporation’s human Resources Director, has won the Colorado Human Resource Association’s 2008 Summit Award for her contributions to the company.
“Lisa has established recruiting practices that are helping us draw in more skilled employees,” said Jake Jacobson, president of Gallegos’ Vail Masonry Division. “In addition, she has created training programs for employees, whether new hires or tenured craftsmen, and retention rates are very strong.”
Ponder has been Gallegos’ human resources director for three years. She and her team took on the workforce shortage issue with a three-pronged approach including: Recruiting and hiring employees from all over the nation in a six-month period; introducing retention strategies and programs company-wide; and training faster and better than the competition.
“I am not surprised the Colorado Human Resource Association honored Lisa with this award,” said Gerald Gallegos, Founder and CEO of The Gallegos Corporation. “Lisa works tirelessly for our company, recruiting employees and maintaining strong working relationships. She has also been essential in working with the H2B program, heading seminars and speaking with our senators and congresspeople. This is a time of change in our industry and Lisa does not back down from challenges.”
For her achievements, Ponder received a scholarship to attend a Society for Human Resource Management National Conference of her choice.
