Vail Valley: Capturing the Colorado outdoor lifestyle

Vail Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado
Special to the Vail Daily"Coal Juggling," by Josh Stevenson.

VAIL, Colorado –If you’ve visited Larkspur restaurant’s bar in Vail, Josh Stevenson has no doubt entertained you with his sense of humor and unique cocktails.

He does have a modest side, as most of Larkspur’s guests don’t know he is an accomplished photographer who has been perfecting his technique for the past 10 years.

“Restaurant work has always allowed me to take time off for my photography and traveling,” said Stevenson, the owner of Flashpoint Photography. “I knew the Vail shoulder seasons would provide the opportunity to follow my passions.”

Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., Stevenson will exhibit some of his outdoor lifestyle images in the lobby of the Westin Riverfront Resort in Avon. An avid skier and mountaineer, Stevenson has collected a passport full of stamps from faraway lands and a myriad of images to match. His exhibit will show a range of photography from his travels and from his home state of Colorado.

“I love textures and patterns in nature and try to capture that in my photography. I like showing a different perspective while staying true to the subject’s essence,” he said.

Flashpoint Photography is available for commercial shoots, weddings, social events, portraits and fine art prints. For more information, call 970-376-7254 or visit
