The Vail Valley Partnership recently donated $4,500 to the Vail Valley Charitable Fund.Since 2004, the Partnership has donated a portion of the proceeds from its annual Success Awards Gala to the recipient of its Non-Profit of the Year award. The Charitable Fund is the only two-time winner of the award, having also won the honor in 2005. Past winners have included First Descents, Habitat for Humanity and the Eagle Valley Land Trust. This is one of the best and most important things we get to do all year. I had the honor of presenting the check at the Charitable Funds most recent board of directors meeting and in these tough times, it was easy to see what this donation meant to them, said Michael Kurz, president and CEO of the Vail Valley Partnership. There is a constant need among our recipients for support like this, especially now, said Karen Simon, executive director of the Charitable Fund. The Vail Valley Charitable Fund helps people who live and work in Eagle County who have overwhelming financial needs due to medical crisis,Simon said. To date, the organization has assisted 600 individuals and families in Eagle County, and has raised and dispersed more than $5 million.
