Vail Valley cleaning company boss attends mold conference
Vail, CO, Colorado
Gary Gilman, President of SteamMaster Restoration and Cleaning and Colorado Basement Systems in the Vail Valley, recently attended a conference on “Approaches to Managing Mold in Buildings” presented by the University of Oklahoma in Orlando, Florida.
Seminars included investigating and remediating mold in schools and eliminating moisture and mold from homes to reduce allergens and asthma triggers. The conference was attended by more than 100 professionals from more than 10 countries.
“A surprising amount of mold is present in both new and existing structures, specifically crawlspaces and attics, in cold climates such as Colorado,” Gilman said. “I attended a seminar on the challenges of constructing and operating buildings in these cold environments. Solutions include the proper use of vapor barriers and crawlspace encapsulation systems.”
Wildfires have become more numerous, bigger and more destructive in the past 40 years. That’s a big deal in a town surrounded by public land.
