Vail Valley college graduation is May 1

EDWARDS –Colorado Mountain College’s Edwards campus will give associate degrees and occupational certificates to 112 students at its graduation ceremony on May 1.

The graduation ceremony, which is open to the public, begins at 10 a.m. in the auditorium of the new Battle Mountain High School across the street from the college campus in Edwards.

College leaders will award 35 associate degrees in areas of study ranging from elementary education, to culinary arts, to fire science technology. Students will earn 83 occupational certificates in subjects that include certified nurse assistant, early childhood education director and EMT paramedic, among others.

One student who’ll be receiving his associate degree, Joey DeLia, is also a senior at Eagle Valley High School. He will be earning his degree and then graduating from high school in the same month.

Giving the opening remarks at the ceremony will be Dr. Stan Jensen, president of Colorado Mountain College. Another speaker will be consultant and part-time Colorado Mountain College instructor Bennett Bramson, who will address students about giving back to the community.
