Vail Valley concierges celebrated

AVON, Colorado Concierges, front desk staff and managers of Vail Valley hotels were toasted Monday night at Finnegans Wake in Avon by Alpine Mobile Physicians. Lots of prizes were handed out, including a trip to Mexico, tickets to a Denver Nuggets game, and gift certificates to Spago and Sweet Basil. The Sonnenalp donated a dinner for two at the Bully Three Restaurant; Base Mountain Sports donated lots of gear; Nova Guides, Timberline Tours and Bearcat Stables gave away tours; and Gravity Jones Ski Werks offered discounted equipment.Alpine Mobile Physicians is a house-call service that operates in cooperation with the Vail Valley Medical Center. Its physicians have worked in the emergency room and at the Avon and Beaver Creek medical centers. One of its co-founders is Dr. Larry Brooks, Vails first full-time emergency room doctor.Another co-founder, Dr. Charles Tuft, has been a house call doctor for several years after being an emergency room physician and medical director of Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver for 14 years. He also was an Everest expedition physician.
