VAIL VALLEY, Colorado – The Special District Association of Colorado honored Dale Corporon of the Cordillera Metropolitan District in Colorado’s Vail Valley with its 2009 Distinguished Manager Award.

Corporon has spent the last 13 years with the Cordillera Metropolitan District. He manages a 10-person team, overseeing infrastructure, facilities and service programs for the district. He worked with design engineers and local water and sanitation districts on upgrades to main water lines, and eliminated $250,000 in extraneous costs while receiving $62,000 in cost sharing from the water and sanitation district.

There has been virtually no turnover during his tenure and annual employee surveys report a high level of satisfaction in his department, the metro district says.

In his spare time, Corporon coordinates the Cordillera home tour to raise money for charity and served on the Interstate 70 Edwards Interchange Upgrade Committee.
