VAIL VALLEY, Colorado – Rick and Kelly’s American Bistro in Edwards is set to close later this month and Zino will re-open in the space, restaurant owners say.

Sweet Basil owner Kevin Clair said he plans to re-open his contemporary Italian eatery, Zino, in June. Zino previously occupied the space in the Riverwalk shopping center for about six years beginning in 1997, Clair said. Rick and Kelly’s opened in July 2008.

Rick and Kelly’s American Bistro is set to close March 27, said Kelly Liken, who owns the eatery along with husband Rick Colomitz.

Clair owns the building where Rick and Kelly’s stands and he offered to take over the space.

“His interest came at a really good time for both of us,” Kelly Liken said. “It’s no secret that it’s been a rough economy here in the Vail Valley for the last year or two. We took it as an opportunity to move forward, allow him to re-open his restaurant, and for us to move forward and refocus on the Kelly Liken brand.”

Liken and her husband also own Restaurant Kelly Liken in Vail.

“We have a lot of really exciting opportunities coming up surrounding the Kelly Liken concept and fine dining, so we’re excited to focus on that and see where that takes us,” Liken said.
