Vail Valley: Doctors on Call awarded $49,000 grant
July 23, 2010
Doctors on Call, a walk-in clinic serving the Vail Valley and its surrounding communities, has been awarded a grant by the Colorado Rural Health Center.
The clinic, operated by Dr. Guy J. Kovacevich, is one of only 28 health care providers in Colorado funded by the program this year. The money enhances the ability of the clinic to provide additional services to patients who are either uninsured or are underinsured.
Doctors on Call provides head-to-toe primary health care, including everything from adult health, children and adolescent health as well as x-rays, injections, wellness, screenings, physicals and other services. Doctors On Call will use the grant to purchase additional diagnostic and surgical equipment and also to improve its electronic medical records system.
“We’re pleased to be the recipients of this grant,” said Kovacevich. “It’s important that we stay abreast of health information technology needs and infrastructure to allow us to continue to offer accessible, affordable primary care. This helps us continue to provide quality care as opposed to only fee-based care.”
