Next Friday is Christmas, and the Vail Valley’s Vilar Center has a great present for you. At 4:30 p.m. on Christmas Day in Beaver Creek we are pleased to present “Curtis Adams: Magic that Rocks,” a high-octane show that’s perfect for the whole family. This is not your typical magic show – it’s a whole new take on the art of illusion. The show is direct from Las Vegas and is everything you’d expect from a full-scale Vegas production: a huge stage set, incredible visual illusions, explosive special effects and breathtaking feats of magic. At 25 years-old, Curtis Adams is redefining stage sorcery for a whole new generation of magic enthusiasts. The show is co-created by mastermind Don Wayne, who was the head creative director and illusion designer for magician David Copperfield for almost 20 years.”Years ago, Copperfield and I decided to redefine magic by changing how it was presented,” says Wayne. “Today, Curtis Adams and I are about to do it again. Curtis is a unique performer and that comes along only once in a great while. You should see this one-night-only event. It appeals to just about everyone that wants to be entertained.” Two of the chief elements that set this performance apart are dance and music. Using current pop and hip hop music, and the talent of top choreographers like Dan Karaty and Kristin Denehy, Adams keeps the performance rocking. The show also features music by Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra and everything in between.I don’t think there is a more family-friendly format than magic. It’s so spellbinding for the kids, and so entertaining for the adults. We’re excited to have this show on the afternoon of Christmas Day. It’s the perfect way to cap off a celebration with the family, or to round out a day of skiing on Beaver Creek mountain. “Magic That Rocks” is just one of the many shows we are presenting this holiday season. Our goal is variety and we have it all. The lineup continues with Bela Fleck & The Flecktones on Saturday; “A Christmas Carol” on Dec. 23; Super Diamond on Dec. 27; Cirque Le Masque on Dec. 28; B.B. King on Dec. 29; and The von Trapp Children on Dec. 30.
