VAIL VALLEY, Colorado -Perhaps all the pink accessories dotting pro football fields around the country Sunday -shoes, gloves, armbands, hats and more – tipped you off. Yes, its October, which means more than falling leaves and snow dusted peaks in Colorado’s Vail Valley – its also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To celebrate two local spas – Aria Spa & Club at Vail Cascade and The Bachelor Gulch Spa at the Ritz-Carlton – are offering a variety of ways for locals to support the cause. During October, Aria Spa & Club at Vail Cascade will donate $5 to the Shaw Cancer Center in Edwards for every massage, facial and body treatment. The spa is also running its 40 percent off promotion during October (it ends Nov. 15). Call 970-479-5942 to make a reservation.On Oct. 17 at 5:30 p.m. the tennis center at Aria Spa & Club will host “Rally for the Cure,” an event to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The two-part event begins with a longest rally contest with prizes going to the duo with the most consecutive hits from the baseline. After the rally contest, a doubles round robin tournament will begin, with prizes going to the team that wins the most number of total games.Throughout the round robin competition, teams will have an opportunity to enhance their game by purchasing vouchers to better their score. Vouchers such as “Do Over,” “3rd Serve,” and “Play with the Wrong Hand” can be purchased to give teams an upper hand against the competition. Vouchers cost between $5 and $10 and there is no limit to the number of vouchers that can be purchased. All proceeds benefit the Komen organization. Think Pink at Ritz spa For the first time, The Bachelor Gulch Spa at The Ritz-Carlton will offer “Pink” treatments during October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Ten percent of the proceeds from each pink treatment will be donated to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
