Vail Valley GOP to host Lincoln Day Dinner

EAGLE COUNTY – The Eagle County Republicans’ annual Lincoln Day Dinner will be held Saturday at the Beaver Creek Lodge.
Peter Wallison, co-director of Financial Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, will be the principal speaker. A resident of Old Snowmass, the graduate of Harvard Law School served as general counsel to the U.S. Treasury as well as White House counsel to President Reagan, special assistant to to Gov. Nelson Rockefeller and counsel to Rockefeller as vice president.
Wallison was recently appointed to serve on the 10-member Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission. This bi-partisan commission is charged with examining the current financial crisis.
Jon Caldara, president of the Independence Institute, will also be speaking about the state of the Colorado Republican Party.
Caldara is well known as an advocate for the free market think tank in Golden as well as host to a variety of TV and radio shows.
Rounding out the evening will be speeches by candidates who have announced their intention to run for election in 2010. Included are: Dan Maes, Scott McInnis and Josh Penry, who are running for governor; Ken Buck, Ryan Frazier, Cleve Tidwell, and Mark Van Wyk, who are running for U.S. Senate; Attorney General John Suthers, ; Scott Gessler, running for secretary of state; and J.J. Ament and Walker Stapleton, who are running for treasurer.
