Vail Valley: I-70 wildlife fence project is ahead of schedule

Vail Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado – The wildlife fence project along Interstate 70 between Glenwood Canyon and Dowd Junction is continuing this summer in Colorado’s Vail Valley.

Work will begin on eastbound I-70 between Wolcott and Edwards later this month. The entire project consists of removing existing fence where necessary, and installing wildlife fence. When finished, there will be about 88,000 linear feet of fence and about 54 wildlife escape ramps.

“The completion date for the entire project was set for late November,” project engineer Damian Leyba said. “However, it appears that crews will finish up ahead of schedule, possibly by late September.”
