Vail Valley Medical Center earns awards for patient care
Vail, CO, Colorado
Vail Valley Medical Center recently was named a recipient of Avatar International’s Overall Performance Award and Avatar’s Exceeding Patient Expectations Award. Both awards are based on the results of the hospital’s 2008 patient surveys.
The Overall Performance Award is presented to hospitals with the highest overall combined patient satisfaction score for Inpatient, Outpatient, Emergency and Ambulatory Surgery care. The award represents the top 5 percent of hospitals listed in Avatar’s national database.
The Exceeding Patient Expectations Award is given to hospitals with an overall score that exceeds the expectations of their patients. The survey for this award is based on three critical items: quality of care, reliability and customization prior to a patient visit.
“We are very proud to receive these awards,” said Sarah Ladd, director of patient relations. “This recognition helps confirm that our initiatives for improving our patients’ experiences are on track.”
Ladd says that all patients receiving care at Vail Valley Medical Center and its outlying facilities are randomly selected to participate in the patient satisfaction surveys. Avatar’s research helps the medical center track its overall success in patient satisfaction goals and identifies areas where improvements need to be made.
Avatar is a research and consulting company based in Orlando, Fla.
