Vail Valley Medical Center has new imaging software

Daily Staff Report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado ” Vail Valley Medical Center will install new software which will allow doctors at the Sonnenalp Breast Diagnostic Imaging Center to better and more quickly interpret screening results.

The software was purchased with funding from the Sonnenalp Foundation, headed by Johannes and Rosana Faessler.

The new software, CADstream, will be used to process the results of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) screens.

“We have seen increasing interest in using MRI to evaluate the breast, both for patients with cancer, and now for screening in patients at high risk, which the American Cancer Society established as a guideline in 2007,” said Dr. Jan Ugale, who is the medical director of the Sonnenalp Breast Diagnostic Imaging Center.

“Preparing and interpreting the results of the MRI requires a considerable amount of technologist time and can be complicated. While our technologists at VVMC have produced excellent results for us, CADstream will help them to diagnose much more precisely, which results in less chance of a misdiagnosis,” she said.
