Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL –Tom Mars, currently vice president of professional services and quality for Vail Valley Medical Center, has been named chief operating officer.
“Tom has clearly shown the ability to be a key contributor to hospital operations since he joined the organization,” said CEO Doris Kirchner. “He has a strong health care background including over 17 years of leadership and clinical experience. As we were evaluating candidates, he rose to the top,” she said.
Mars received his bachelor of science in nursing from George Mason University and his master of science in nursing administration from New Mexico State University. He worked in leadership roles with Dallas Regional Medical Center, Nacogdoches Medical Center, the Medical Center of Aurora and Covenant Health System before joining Vail Valley Medical Center in 2008. Since that time, he was promoted to his current position and also serves as the interim vice president for the Shaw Regional Cancer Center.
“The coming years for health care will be full of challenges and opportunities,” said Mars. “VVMC’s ability to deliver quality care and an excellent patient experience places us in a tremendous position to excel in this vital institution in Vail.”
