Vail Valley Medical Center names new VP
VAIL, Colorado – Peggy Carey has been named to Vail Valley Medical Center’s administrative team as vice president of Shaw Regional Cancer Center. “Peggy Carey is extremely knowledgeable and believes in the importance of community involvement at all levels of cancer care. She also believes that clinical excellence is essential to sustaining a strong cancer program,” said Doris Kirchner, president and CEO of the medical center. “Peggy has a proven ability to build robust, patient-focused community and hospital-based programs, which makes her another strong addition to VVMC’s leadership team.”For the past 16 years, Carey worked at St. Charles Health System in Bend, Oregon as the cancer program director and then oncology service line director, where she was responsible for all aspects of cancer care for St. Charles System Hospitals. Carey holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Southern Oregon State College and a Masters in Public Administration from Lewis & Clark College. She participates in committees that work to advance the treatment and prevention of cancer. Most recently she served as an advisor to the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research for Women’s Health and participated on the President’s Cancer Panel.
