VAIL, Colorado –Ron and Lucy Davis hosted an event on Thursday evening at their home in Lake Creek in honor of a true local hero, Ed O’Brien, whose given tirelessly, especially, to the Vail Valley Medical Center.
Ed served on the governing board of the Vail Valley Medical Center and the VVMC foundation board for 11 years.
“Ed is an incredibly valuable guy to work with and has been a fantastic mentor as well as business partner and he will be missed in both capacities,” said Charlie L’Esperance who worked with O’Brien at Vail Resorts in 1994 and was recruited by O’Brien to the governing board of VVMC.
“I view VVMC as one of the most significant organizations, which serves this community,” O’Brien said. “I have had an interest in medical-related nonprofits for many years and thought it was a worthy place to lend a hand to the community in which I believe. There is not a better place to live than Vail and, to the extent I could make a contribution, I was pleased and honored to do so.”
And make a difference he has – there are some enormous shoes to fill (size 13 shoe, we think). We love you Ed, our gentle giant. We will see you in the neighborhood. Maybe now you will have more time to visit and barbecue.
A huge thank you goes out to the Davis’ for hosting the evening.
A survey showed a good bit of support for local government action to bolster workforce housing in town. For now though, that support stops at supporting a new tax for funding.
