Vail Valley: Minturn Saloon named state’s ‘Top Ski Bar’

Daily Staff Report
Vail, CO, Colorado

Outside Magazine’s July issue has named the Minturn Saloon the “best Colorado ski bar.” The magazine piece asked writers, editors, and readers to list their favorite places to “rest and refuel,” and they picked the Vail Valley bar and restaurant.

“It’s is always great to be recognized on a national level,” owner Steve Campbell said. “It validates all the hard work and passion that our great staff brings to restaurant every day. Being close to the end of the Minturn Mile doesn’t hurt either.”

The Minturn Saloon is beginning its 35th year of business. The building housing the restaurant dates back to 1901 and is filled with sports and celebrity memorabilia from well known customers. Known for its Mexican food and margaritas, The Minturn Saloon also specializes in duck and quail as well as steaks, fish, chicken, and nightly specials.

Outside Magazine isn’t alone in honoring the Saloon. For the fourth straight year Esquire Magazine has named the Minturn Saloon to its “Best In America” list. In 2007, City Magazine honored the Saloon by declaring its margarita the “best in the Rocky Mountains”.
