VAIL VALLEY, Colorado –The Expeditionary Learning Schools Mountain FilmFest took place Saturday at the new Battle Mountain High School in Edwards in Colorado’s Vail Valley. Nearly 500 people attended the event, and nearly 400 tickets were sold, said Holly Woods, district grant writer/fundraiser for Eagle County Schools and the event organizer.

“I think it went very well,” she said. “Our goal for this event wasn’t for it to be a huge fundraiser, given that we kept prices low to get people in the door. We were really hoping for it to be a community event, which it definitely was.”

Woods also felt the event increased awareness about the three expeditionary learning schools in Eagle County –Meadow Mountain Elementary, Minturn Middle School and Red Canyon High School – which was one of her major goals, she said.

“I wanted to let the community know we have some amazing things going on in Eagle County Schools,” she said.
