MINTURN – Minturn is the latest mountain town debating whether to ban smoking in most public places. The town has a survey on its Web site,, where residents can give their opinion. The town council is considering asking voters in April for their permission to pass a smoking ban. Smoking bans passed earlier this year by Eagle County and Avon go into effect in early March.

MINTURN – Every second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month, seniors in Minturn traverse mountainsides, snowfields and places like Maloit Park.The group is looking for more participants. The snowshoers meet at the Minturn Town Hall and snowshoe from 9:45 a.m. to approximately 11:15 a.m. To join the group, bring snowshoes, poles and warm clothes. MINTURN – ‘Elvis’ will perform during dinner at the Turntable Restaurant from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Valentine’s Day. A “Miss Turntable Contest” will also be held. Contestants are encouraged to dress in their finest bathrobes or nightgowns for the competition. Contestants need to pick up an entry form for the “Miss Turntable Contest” at the Turntable.The event includes dinner and show for $10.95 and $8.95 for seniors. Reservations are suggested. EL JEBEL – Democratic candidate for governor Bill Ritter will meet with Eagle County Democrats at the El Jebel Community Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday.Later the afternoon, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Ritter will meet with Summit County democrats at the Backcountry Brewery on Main Street in Frisco.
