VAIL VALLEY, Colorado –The eighth annual Charter Academy Ultimate Halloween Gala takes place Friday night at The Ritz Carlton, Bachelor Gulch. The theme is Night at the Opera.

“At the Ultimate Halloween Gala, the people are actually part of the decorations,” said event organizer Dawn Harker. “The creativity in the costumes and the personas people adopt when they are dressed up are main components of the experience.”

Organizers expect around 200 people to attend the event. The event includes auctions, a three-course dinner, live music, dancing, beer, wine and more. Local funk rock band The Jonny Mogambo Band will perform.

Both a silent and a live auction will take place during the event. Live auction items include a catered cocktail party at the Sculptured House on Genessee Mountain outside of Denver, which was designed by architect Charles Deaton; a seven-day stay at a five-bedroom house in Puerto Los Cabos, Mexico over Spring Break; a weeklong excursion for two in a Tuscan villa; a chef’s dinner for eight at Spago; a private, catered barbecue for 30 people courtesy of the Dusty Boot and more.

Tickets for the event are $125. Proceeds benefit the Eagle Valley Charter Academy.

The event is the biggest fundraising event for the charter school.

“We start each year with a $425,000 operating deficit and families of the school do a combination of fundraising and writing checks to make up that deficit,” Harker said.

Proceeds from this event go directly to the school’s operating costs.

“One of the foundations of our school is we have 16 children per classroom,” she said. “There’s a lot of extra cost to support that, but our famililes are willing to do that because they believe so strongly in individualized learning.”

The gala is an adult-only party. Visit http://www.ultimatehalloweengala.com for more information.
