Vail Valley outdoors group readies for new year

VAIL – The Vail Valley-based Gore Range Group of the Colorado Mountain Club has picked a new slate of volunteer officers.
Heading up the group as chairperson is Lee Moosburger, a long time Vail local and club member for 20 years. She has a long history of outdoor activities in the mountains and has served as a ski instructor and managed Small World Child Care for Vail Resorts.
Other Gore Range Group officers are Jeanne Sloan, secretary; Hemmie Westbye, treasurer; Nancy Rondeau, conservation; Colleen Widlak, activities; Cindy Lagace, membership; Norm Numerof, safety and training; Marka Moser, newsletter; Charlie and Norma Carter, publicity; Paul Rondeau, leadership training; Sonia Webb, social; and Jim Rein, state council representative.
The Gore Range Group is one of 14 groups of the statewide Colorado Mountain Club that focuses on summer and winter mountain recreation in both summer and winter. The group holds periodic training on mountaineering and back country skills, including rock climbing and mountain oriented first aid are available. Conservation, including working for wilderness preservation and understanding of Leave No Trace back country skills are priorities of the group.
