Vail Valley Partnership membership is an investment
Those wiser than me have told me that a key to continued success in business and life is the ability to adapt. The Vail Valley has many businesses and organizations (including the staff here at the Vail Valley Partnership) which are constantly adapting to the current realities and who continue to provide great levels of service to their guests and clients.While 2009 and 2010 have certainly not been easy on anyone, the Vail Valley Partnership continues to grow our voice and to provide a stronger-than-ever menu of benefits for our members. Partnership members have a variety of involvement options, ranging from networking events such as monthly business after-hours mixers to educational programs (such as the upcoming Vail Valley Business Forum) to marketing benefits including advertising and social media presence. However, you likely already know this.But did you know that in a recent survey of 2,000 U.S. adults, The Schapiro Group (an Atlanta-based strategic consulting firm) found positive perceptions of chamber members in a number of areas, including overall favorability, consumer awareness and reputation, and likelihood of future patronage?The study showed that when respondents were told that a particular business was a member of a chamber, they were 44 percent more likely to rate it favorably than study respondents who were not told of the chamber affiliation. Respondents were also 63 percent more inclined to purchase goods or services from a small business that is a chamber member.So I challenge you to reconsider how you think about the Vail Valley Partnership (and in fact, to re-evaluate your view of any member-based organization you might work with or belong to). Instead of viewing your involvement as a “membership,” adapt your thinking to view your community involvement as an investment. An investment in yourself. An investment in your professional development. An investment in your business.
