Vail Valley Partnership seeks members in sustainability program

VAIL, Colorado – The Vail Valley Partnership is looking for participants in its “Destination Preservation: The Environmental Sustainability Program.”
The program’s objective is to develop a voluntary, non-regulatory program to acknowledge and reward environmentally conscious facilities in the Vail Valley business and hospitality community.
The Environmental Sustainability Program is an effort to encourage the Vail Valley hospitality industry to conserve and protect the natural environment, to increase awareness of best practices and to help businesses save money while protecting the environment.
Involvement requires a signed pledge that organization will incorporate green business practices and sustainability into decision-making on all levels of operation. Other requirements include:
• A list of best practices.
• An action plan and/or policy statement of sustainable activities.
• An employee “green team”.
• Business must inform customers of green business efforts.
• Business must attend at least one green/sustainable educational seminar per calendar year.
The application fee is $150 per business, and the fee waived for the first year for all town of Vail businesses. To learn more, call Chris Romer, 970-477-4016.
