Vail Valley photo: Fine arts fest underway in Avon

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado –Boulder based wildlife photographer Rob Palmer, right, holds his gyrfalcon named Achilles as an onlooker peeks at the bird Friday during the 16th annual Avon Fine Art and Wine Affaire at Nottingham Park in Avon in Colorado’s Vail Valley.

Palmer is training the falcon to hunt and occasionally uses the animal as a model for his photography. The fine art and wine event runs through Sunday at Nottingham Park.
