Cool Radio, LLC – which owns and operates “The Zephyr” at 97.7 on the FM dial – announced Friday a new radio format playing on 104.7FM in the Vail Valley. “The Valley 104.7,” as it will be called, is being touted as a station that will “reflect the uniqueness of living in Eagle County.”

Cool Radio claims the station will “blend elements of some of the most listened-to radio stations in America.”

“Though our music mix will truly lack definition, its focus is on some of the best songs ever made. We like to call it, ‘Music That Was Popular When You Were,'” Cool Radio president, Tom Dobrez said.

Artists on the playlist include Elton John, Billy Joel, Hall and Oates, Neil Diamond and the The Beatles.

The station will be run by longtime local radio personality Tony Mauro.

“Under Tony’s leadership, Cool Radio has lived up to its mission as a community radio station first and foremost. We expect and Vail area residents as well should expect nothing less from The Valley 104.7,” said Dobrez.

Cool Radio has stations in four Colorado mountain communities: KSNO FM in Aspen/Snowmass Village, KBCR FM in Steamboat Springs and KZYR and KBTB FM The Valley in the Vail Valley.
