Vail Valley: Rocky Mountain Connections names new president
Shawn Thomson, owner of Rocky Mountain Connections, a destination management and special events company with an office in Vail, Colorado, recently announced the appointment of Nathan Boyd as company president. In this newly-established role, Boyd will oversee business operations for six offices in Vail, Colorado Springs, Denver, and Aspen, Park City, Utah and Jackson Hole, Wyo. Boyd’s job is to help Rocky Mountain Connections strengthen and develop regional hotel partnerships, drive new business development and employ social media tactics to bolster the company’s online presence. Boyd now works from the Vail office, but will relocate to the company’s Aspen headquarters by fall. Boyd most recently worked The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, where he was director of sales and, most recently, was the director of sales and marketing. At the Ritz-Carlton Boyd oversaw revenue management, marketing, client communications and business development. Before his tenure at the Ritz-Carlton Boyd spent four years at the St. Regis Resort in Aspen. He has also worked at the Vail Valley Tourism and Convention Bureau, Vail Cascade Resort & Spa and Vail Resorts Management Company. “Rocky Mountain Connections’ 2010 business pace is already showing encouraging signs of a steady recovery and return to pre-economic decline in business and incentive travel,” Thomson said. “With several hotels due to open in our regional office areas, we needed a strong leader to take the reigns and drive inspiration, confidence and creativity through all levels of the organization. Nathan is that leader and we are excited to see the ingenuity of his talents at work for our clients and partners.” To learn more about Rocky Mountain Connections, go to http://www.RockyMtnCon.com or call 970-776-0040.
