Vail Valley school district awards $110,000 to teachers

EAGLE, Colorado ” The U.S. Department of Education selected Eagle County Schools to receive a $6.8 million Teacher Incentive Fund grant in 2006 ” the school board honored 12 teachers at Wednesday’s meeting who won some of the money.
The competitive grant was designed to support programs that develop performance-based teacher compensation systems, based mostly on increases in student achievement.
Eagle County Schools was granted the right to use some of the funds to create the Excellence in Teaching Award ” full-time teachers won $10,000, and part-time teachers won $5,000.

Linda Dudley, Red Canyon High School (part-time).
Troy Dudley, Red Canyon High School.
Audrey Frey, Edwards Elementary School.
Carol Gonter, Gypsum Creek Middle School.
Christina Gosselin, Red Canyon High School.
Lauren Raymond, Edwards Elementary School.
Kristi Schieidegger, Eagle Valley Middle School (part-time).
Deb Savino, Avon Elementary School.
Lauren Wilson, Battle Mountain High School.
Cheri Wright-Williams, Meadow Mountain Elementary School.
